6. Cable markings

Whether in the control cabinet, in cable harnesses, on medical equipment, computers - in the office, in industry and trade: cable marking is important in many areas. Well thought-out cable marking makes it easier to keep track of the various cabling or cable associations and, last but not least, prevents errors during electrical installation.

Some examples of cable markers

Delock has many variants of cable markers in its range. For example, cables can be labeled with consecutive numbers from color-sorted clips with the numbers 0 to 9. There are clip sets with the letters A to Z or clips with a field for self-labeling.

The way in which the respective marking is attached to the cable is also solved differently, so that all needs are covered as far as possible. Last but not least, Delock also offers cable markers in the handy dispenser box for unrolling and individual cutting, ideally suited for transport and to protect the content from dirt and dust.

7. Heat shrinkable tubings

Heat shrink tubes are used for protection and insulation of cables, electrical lines or wires. When exposed to heat, the heat shrink tube contracts and completely enclosures the cable. Thus the cables are protected against temperature fluctuations, weather impacts and mechanical damage.

What shrinkage rates there are and what do they mean?

When buying a heat shrink tube, the shrinkage ratio plays determinating role. At a shrink ratio of 2:1, the hose shrinks to half its original diameter when heated with a heat gun.

At a greater shrinkage ratio, as for example 3:1 and 4:1, the original diameter is very wide and initially there is more space to accomodate the wires and / or cables. The original diameter then shrinks to a third of its "starting size" at a shrinkage ratio of 3:1, and to a quarter at 4:1. A heat gun is best suited for shrinking all variants.

Areas of application

  • Plant engineering: For insulation of cable ends and bundling of cable harnesses, e.g. in control cabinets; protection against weather and mechanical influences
  • Industry: For insulation of cables or cable harnesses, e.g. for machine parts; protection against heat, cold, dirt and moisture
  • At home / workshop: For insulating open cable ends or bundling cables; handicraft projects and repairs

8. Cable glands

What are cable glands?

Cable glands provide a seal to the housing for the feed-through of cables and electrical lines. In doing so, they protect the housing from the effects of the weather, such as moisture, as well as from dirt and dust.

The two most commonly used cable glands are PG cable glands, also called armored threads, and the new metric cable glands. Another function of cable glands is strain relief; it ensures that cables cannot come loose or be pulled out of the gland. Cable glands are applied to junction boxes and boxes, distribution boxes and control cabinets, in the fields of:

  • Automation
  • Machinery
  • Robotics
  • Electrical installation

Cable glands according to your needs

Delock meets as many requirements as possible in the field of cable glands. The type of cable, the possible environment and additional benefits are taken into account. For example, there is a cable gland for round cables in the range, which creates a watertight seal to the housing and is particularly suitable for round cables.

If there is little space for installation, the 90° angled gland is a good choice. Another example is the robust cable gland with screw-on strain relief, which fixes the cable and protects it from excessive bending. This is particularly suitable for machine installations, as the cable remains in its original position even in the event of vibrations and cannot fall out. Cable glands with two, three or four cable guides, also in various thread sizes and thread lengths, are of course also part of the range.
